With Child Therapy, Your Kid
Can Be a Happy Kid‏

Child Therapy That Works

Is your child unhappy? Kids are usually happy all the time. If your child becomes unhappy, it’s time to bring them to the therapist. My job is to make kids comfortable and let them open up when they are ready to trust me.

Therefore, you can rest assured that your child won’t be forced to talk. Instead, they will do that willingly. I let kids pick their most comfortable spot. If those initial tricks fail, there is no need to worry. I have a lot of tricks in my bag.‏

‏Because I exercise patience, kids eventually start becoming comfortable around me. This makes them open up about their present struggles. In some instances, I can share stories with the children and try to ease them into being comfortable enough to confide in me.

‏Your Child Will be In Good Hands‏

‏It can be difficult for a kid to talk to a stranger. The trick is to make them feel safe and that they are in good hands. If your child has been hurting alone for a while, they might not understand what’s taking place.

As a result, they might shut out as much of the world as they can to try to gain some comfort. ‏
‏Because the hurt is emotional, kids won’t be able to pinpoint the source of the pain. This can frustrate them – what’s more frustrating is how they can’t express their parents. ‏

Fortunately, at Courageous Kids Counseling, your child will view their therapist as a friend. Call us today, and we can form a long-lasting relationship that will be highly beneficial for your child.‏‏

How Child Therapy Works‏

‏When kids come to Courageous Kids Counseling, they learn by doing. When dealing with younger kids, this means the whole family will play a part. As a family, you can help a kid draw, talk, and play. For older kids, there are activities and ideas that can help the kids focus on what they want to learn. ‏

‏As your kid learns, we will give support and praise. This boosts the kids’ confidence and helps them to discover their strengths. Apart from that, child therapy will also help your child build better-thinking patterns. This will lead to a lot of healthy behavioral habits.‏

‏There are two ways to go about therapy. It is possible to meet with the child alone or meet with both the children and the parent. This mainly depends on how old the child is. I can also meet with the parent to give them several ideas that can enable them to assist their child at home. ‏

‏Call us at Courageous Kids Counseling today and get your child on a journey to happiness.‏

What Happens In Therapy?

The first meeting is between you, your child, and the therapist. I will ask you some questions and listen. This is how I learn more about your child and what problems they might be facing. In that meeting, I will also tell you how I can help the child.‏

‏The child will start going for more therapy sessions. During these visits, your child may:

● ‏Talk. ‏
● ‏Do activities.‏
● ‏Practice new skills. ‏
● ‏Solve problems. ‏

‏Talking is one of the best ways to get a child to express their feelings. When kids learn to use their words to communicate instead of actions, they will be well behaved. Kids are especially more ready to talk when they feel heard. This is why I listen to kids attentively when they talk.‏

‏There are several activities that can be used by therapists to teach children about feelings and coping skills. Kids might do activities like drawing and playing games as a way of learning. This is where kids learn mindfulness and calm breathing, which can be important for lowering stress.‏

‏A therapist can help your kid to practice what they learn. For instance, kids will get to wait their turn, use self-control, and be patient. During the game, they will also follow directions, listen, share, or deal with losing. With therapy for older kids, most of what we do is find out what problems affect them from both home and school. Most of the following conversations will be about how to solve these problems.‏

‏Unpacking Big Feelings and Using Tools to Overcome These Pitfalls.‏

Are you ready to have your child’s happiness restored? My job is to uncover why your child is not happy. The first step would be to earn their trust before we dive into what’s troubling them. We will also throw in some role play and indirectly speak about situations that the child might be facing. However, we will not rush into directly addressing the challenges just yet. ‏

‏With time, your child therapist will gain the child’s trust, and they will start answering some of the more direct questions. That’s how I get kids to be more communicative and uncover what’s troubling them. Call us today to schedule an appointment.
